baseball, Stengel was a dentist in Kansas City.
National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial. This unique memorial to the historic significance,
courage, and patriotism of those who fought in WWI draws visitors to the museum from all over the
world. The museum honors, preserves, and retells the events of WWI through first-hand accounts in
film, objects, and testimonials. The Museum is a living history lesson, a badge of honor to its soldiers,
and an emblem of our freedom.
Swope Park. Is one of the largest parks in the U.S.; it is twice the size of New York City’s Central Park.
Inside the park, there lie some of the most popular attractions in KC. The Starlight Theatre, a KC favorite
since the 1950’s, offers concerts, Broadway shows, and a Walk of Stars. The Park also boasts picnic
areas, sports fields, a golf course, and a swimming pool. Writer Robert A. Heinlein also referred to Swope
Park in many of his famous books.
Russell Stover Candies. Russell Stover is the largest manufacturer of boxed chocolates in the U.S. The
family-owned company moved its headquarters from Denver to Kansas City in 1932.
